My grandmother has the entire series (and the books about Mary Ware) in first edition. I started reading them with her when I was 10 and have continued to pick them up every few years. You cannot have a better series than this! This book will enchant the most romantic and warm even the crustiest old heart.
I have the antique set of Little Colonel books, but being over 100, the paper is darkening, etc. This version on is exactly copied, even to having the page numbers interspersed, and the pictures beautifully rendered. The stories are as entertaining and inspiring as ever.
I'm giving this book a five star rating because it reflects a time of innocence long gone. The Little Colonel series of books exemplify a purity and grace our world longs for.
This one and Mary Ware's Promised Land are my favorites, but the entire series is wonderful.
I read this as a junior-high girl years ago, in a vintage edition. This one is for the , and is perfect, with the pages numbered and the pictures intact. Holds up well for a new generation, too.
This was a wonderful story just as all of the Little Colonel books are wonderful stories. It was fun to find out who Lloyd married and it was fun to read about Lloyd's friends again. I enjoyed this book and all of the others more as an adult.
Lloyd Sherman is grown up by now....and who will be her "knight in shining armor"? He will need to measure up in many ways! If you love The Little Colonel books, you will want to see how love comes into her life. Enjoy!!
